Extreme sports are new, excitibg, and dengerous.

I'm interested in bike races or games. Every year in the United States there's are summer X games and winter X games. The first summer X games started two years later with mountain biking on snow, ice clibming, and other games. Now there's an Asian X games, an Australian X games, a European x games, ... There are ten X games around the world. I want to go to see it someday.

Today's book is 'American life'.

Most people around the world know something about American life. We can see American movies on TV, listen to American music, and eat in American restaurants.

Of course, Americans are not all the same. The United States of America is a big coutry. There are many different ways of life. New York City is one of the most exiting and famous city in the world, but life there is not the same as life in a small American town. I saw the many faces of American life in this book.

Do you know how many people move to the U.S. every year? The answer is 750,000! Recently, many different kinds of people lived in the U.S. In 1798, more than 60% came from Britain, Ireland, Germany, and France. About 20% came from Africa, but they were slaves. Between 1880 and 1914, most immigrants cane from south and west of Europe. Today, most immigarants are from Latin America and Asia.

America is a big country. Americans loves their cars. There are 200,000,000 cars on the road. Only 5% of Americans catch buses and trains to work. In most states, American can drive when they are sixteen. Life without cars is difficult. Schools, stores, and work are usually a long way from home. When I visited the United States, I saw a lot of Japanese cars. When I saw them, I felt that Japan and America are close. In Montana, on some roads, you can drive as fast as you can. I want to go and drive there someday!

We can watch American movies in Japan. American movie-makers make about 570 movies each year. Not only American people but also people in many other countries love these movies.
Today, the name Hollywood means movies. Before 1910, Hollywood was only a small town near Los Angeles. Movie-makers moved there from New York because they wanted the Californian sun. Their job was easier with good weather.

There are many differences between American life and Japanese life. But I like both of them. I want to visit to America again.

Today's book is "FOOD AND DRINK IN BRITAIN".

I have never been to Britan but I know that tea is very popular in Britain. Coffee has became very popular in Britain recent years, but tea is still national drink.

In 1610, tea was brought from China to Europe. At first, it was very expensive so not many people could buy it, but by 1750 it was widly drunk in Britain. The traditional way of making tea is:

1 Boil some fresh cold water.

2 Put some hot water into the teapot to make it warm.

3 Pour the water away.

4 Put one teaspoon of tea-leaves per person, and one extra teaspoon, into the pot.

5 Pour boiling water onto the tea.

6 Leave for a few minutes.

7 Serve.

And you can see how to make Shepherd's Pie and Scones on this book. Shepherd is a person who looks after sheep, and a shepherd's pie is usually made from lamb. If you are interested in them, please read it!

He is from Alabama and grew up in Atlanta. His family was not poor but they were black and in the South black people didn't have the same rights white people.
He experienced "segregation" in his childhood.

Today's book is "GANDHI".
Mohandes Karamchand Gandhi was born in 1869 in Porbandar, in the west of India. He is Hindus.
His first job took him to South Africa, but it is difficult for Indians to live there because they are not white and Christian. One day, a police man threw Gandhi off a train because of his color. This changed him. He started to fight for the rights of Indians.
And then, he went back to India. He started to fight for independence from Britain. He wanted to change India's rulers but he also wanted to change Indians. He showed them a simple, holy way of life.
He died in 1948 but everyone know his name. People in many countries follow his idea today.

Main character of this story in Nicky. This story is about his first visit in New York. He is going to stay with his Aunt Carrie. But before he sees her, he meets some older boys with motorbikes. Then, the police think Nicky is a thief. They are looking for him. Nicky has to find Aunt Carrie before the police find him....

PRISON BREAK

Recently, I have read PRISON BREAK. I borrowed 4 books of PRISON BREAK from my friend on Tuesday. Origine of PRISON BREAK is American drama. This story is bout prison breaking and we can see betrayal, enemy, and freedom. Main character wants to help his brother who is in prison, so he commits crime deliberrately and he is taken to the prison where his brother is commited. He is an architect and has a tattooed on his body. This tattoo shows the draft of the prison.

I read the book written about Julia Roberts.

She is beautiful, smart, and a famous actress.

She was born in Atlanta on October 28, 1967. She has a elder brother, Eric, and a younger sisiter, Lisa. Julia's father and mother, Walter and Betty, loves the theater. They start a school for young actors in Atlanta. They work all day and night, but they have never much money.
In 1972, Walter and Betty get a divorce. Julia and Lisa live with her mother and Eric live with his father. Then, in 1977, their father dies.
Julia's big smile makes everyone happy now, but there is a sad story behind her smile.

From 1982 to 1985, Julia go to school and happy. She makes many friends and likes dance, music, movies, and her friends. She finishes a school and moves to New York. Eric is an actor and he has a role in a new movie in 1986. This was Blood Red. The director is looking for an actress, so Eric recommend Julia. Blood Red is the first movie with Julia Roberts.

In 1987, Julia is good in Satisfaction and she meets her first boyfriend, Liam Neeson.
In 1988, she is in Steel Magnolias and got an award for her role.
In 1989, Disney starts a new movie, Pretty Woman. It makes $450,000,000.
In 1989, she starts Flatliners and fall in love with Kiefer Sutherland. But she stops the wedding with him and gets a new boyfriend, Jason Patric.
In 1991, she makes three movies. Sleeping with the Enemy is a big hit, but Dying Young and Hook are not. Steven Spielberg, who in the director of Hook says, 'I can't work with Julia Robarts again.' Julia stops work for about two years.

But in 1993, Julia is back! She is in The Pelican Brief. This movie is a big hit and makes $200,000,000. She meets a new boyfriend, Lyle Lovett and they are marries. In 1995, however, they divorce.

People like Julia Roberts in smart love stories. In 1997, she makes My Best Wedding and meets new boyfriend. Then she marries Daniel Moder but it is only ten months.

In 2001, she gets Academy Awards for a role in Erin Brockovitch.

Oxford is 90 kilometres from London, it takes about one hour by car, train, or bus. More than 110,000 people live in Oxford.

The city is an important center for work, shopping, and nightlife. But people from all over the world, and from different parts of Britain, come to Oxford to see some beatiful buildings, the musiums, and the parks and the gardens. Oxford is a very interesting city. Many visiters live Oxford.

California is called 'The Golden State'. California became state in 1850, two years after winning it from Mexico in the Mexican-American War. People came to California to find gold many years ago.

There are many good place to see and very big cities such as San Diego, Los Angels, Hollywood, and San Francisco in California. Disneyland is in Los Angels, and we can see a lot of surfers there. There is a Chinatown in San francisco. By 1850 there were about 4,000 Chinese people living in San francisco. many more came to work in the gold mines, and to build a railway. Today, people come from Japan, Korea, and Vietnam, as well as China. There are also many National Parks, such as Yosemite National Park, Sequoia National Park, Kings Canyon National Park.

I want to visit California someday!

I read the book "NEW YORK". New York is called "Big Apple".

New York is dengerous city, so we shouldn't carry a lot of money with us, travel on the subway alone at night or we should stay with the crowds late at night, go into the nearest hotel or shop if you suddenly feel afraid.

If you are shopping for something different, go to SoHo or Greenwich Village. There are 17,000 or more restaurants, cafes, fast food shops and food stand in New York.

I want to go to New York and visit the place that world trade center was.

I like to watch soccer because my ex-boyfriend was belong to a soccer club and I went to watch his game sometimes. I like The World Cup! It is evry four years, so I'm looking forward to watching it.
